For the past 6 months or so I've been working on a short film called SOCK with producer Matthias Law and Cinematographer/Art Director James Alderson.
We received the script along with about 8 or 9 others and upon reading all fell in love with it , Written by former Adelaide local Barry Cree the story really stood out from the pack and got all our creative juices flowing.
The Simple aspects or the film (small cast , minimal locations) allowed us to get more creative with art department and cinematography and of course give me more time with the actors and get realistic performances.
For now im gonna leave it at that even tho there is a shitload more to say , here is some stuff from the film.
Unfortunately for you tho the Film cant be shown on the internet as we are still entering it into various festivals.
Barry is a channel- surfing, junk-food munching, pot-smoking, couch potato and when faced with the death of his best mate Jones he reacts as any out of his head stoner might, using the supernatural to transport the soul of friend into a suitable vessel.
There's just one problem Barry is fresh out of "suitable vessels" and resorts to the use of a dirty old sock!

Diamond Sins & The Birth of Cheese and Chainsaw
"Growing up in Broken Hill was bad enough on its own let alone having to do it with Davey Damaged!"
-Quote from unknown broken hill street dweller.
The first time i remember meeting Dave was at a local band frenzy singing for horror metal band Breed of Dawn back in the early 2000's . since then Dave has been in bands The Sex and Ablaze before finally joining Adelaide glam-punk band Diamond Sins.
I've been filming the band for a few years whilst playing their local circuit, even directing and filming a 4 camera live concert from start to end at Adelaide College for the ARTS.
So when Dave approached me to do a Music Clip i had no hesitations and after a few weeks planning the clip was planned and we started our own film company called Cheese and Chainsaw . filmed on a Sony VX2000 with a budget of about 50 cents i was pretty damn happy with the how the clip turned out .
Any way here it is.

The Beginning
So i guess i should start some where near the beginning, but like a Tarantino film where the start about halfway through the middle of everything else ...
WASTELAND
aside from all the things i made or filmed in high school Wasteland is pretty much my first Short Film, Written by myself and Chad Mitchell for a short film competion known as the Reel Deal Film Festival 2008.
The guidelines of the competition stated that the film had to be shot on location in either Broken Hill or its sister city Bankstown and that the film have an "Embrace" interpreted in any way.
So after spending about a week on the script and a week left to shoot i got down to business , wrangling support from all over town finding locations and organising a cast plus costumes.
The film was shot in only 2 days with no budget what so ever and had four locations, granted there is almost no dialogue but c'mon this was the first gimme a break.
Any way i entered it into the Real Deal 2008 and also Trash-a-ramma 2008 but No Screening, No Nothing.
Enjoy my little ode to MAD MAX
